Hoooray for the release of the Waterfall raglan!!!
We love the waterfall raglan, it’s the perfect beginners knit pattern because it’s not only easy and quick to sew but cute to boot too. I’ve already made three but here you can see only two versions because I forgot to take ‘nice’ pictures of the dress version … oopsie … will have to show you that later 🙂
The Waterfall raglan features a ruffled hemline that curves up on the sides and can be made as a top or dress and comes with 3 sleeve options, short, 3/4 or long which makes it also versatile for summer through to winter depending on what knit and sleeve option you choose.
For my first top, I decide on a more dressier punk kind of top so decided to use a dance/performance knit and it works a treat (I love how it drapes and swings heheh). I also added a contrast (by flipping the fabric around … genius right??? LOL) pocket which is part of the pattern and made a 3/4 sleeve. I folded the sleeve up to the elbow becasue I wanted the matching contrast look on the sleeve with the pocket.
Of course I had to complete this rock star look with matching Boo Leggings and cool cat sunnies hehe
Now remember how I said this is such a versatile top/dress depending on your fabric choice? Well, when the lovely Sarah from For the love of fabrics sent me a surprise package in the mail with this gorgeous vintage inspired purple floral cotton lycra knit, I was over the moon!!!
How perfect was this to create a totally different waterfall raglan look? One that is reminiscent of yesteryears, where kids run around bare foot, playing with rosy cheeks.
I just LOVE how the ‘WATER’ ‘FALL’ raglan can be both a playful and fancy top/dress.
